Michael Robson
Michael is a professional landscape painter working in Fife, Scotland, where he lives by the River Tay. His work is founded on the practice of painting outdoors in the impressionist manner, recording directly the effects of light he observes around him. His paintings seek to communicate his visual and emotional sensitivity to his local environment. A strong use of colour and bold application of paint characterise Michael’s painterly style, and his oil and watercolour paintings vividly represent the changing light of the River Tay.
Graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 2003, Michael has since exhibited with the Royal Scottish Academy, theRoyal Scottish Academy of Painters in Watercolour and the Society of Scottish Artists in Edinburgh, and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and the Royal Watercolour Society in London. Accolades include the Phyllis Roberts Prize at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in London, 2009, and the Caran D’Ache Award at Patchings Art Exhibition, 2010. He has exhibited with galleries across Fife, Dundee and Edinburgh, and his work has been held in the collections of the Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and the Perth Royal Infirmary.
