Jean Martin RSW
Jean Martin RSW
Glasgow School of Art 1964--1968
Jean B Martin was born in Glasgow in 1947 and trained at the Glasgow School of Art.
She was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) in 2002.
Having painted purely in watercolour for many years, Jean's jewel-like paintings are now also the product of her more recent use of mixed media.
The ability to use different materials to build up layers of glazing and collage produces the depth and luminocity for which she has become renowned.
From vibrant, floral-based still lifes, sublime church interiors, and landscapes from golden-hued Venice to the blustery East Coast of Scotland her work possesses a magic quality that enthralls the viewer.
Jean Martin has won numerous awards and is an important Scottish painter of her generation.
Her work is held in many private and corporate collections in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Canada and America.
