Lorna Kirkwood-Smith
Lorna is a Scottish born artist who lives and works just outside Edinburgh. She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1982 with a BA Hons in Drawing and Painting. She won an Elizabeth Greenshield artists’ travelling scholarship which enabled travel throughout north India and Nepal in the following year.
After a long successful career in the university sector she returned to painting, her first and enduring passion, as a working artist.
Her work is rooted in the realist painting tradition and is much inspired by, and involves careful study of, the natural world. Her interest often finds a place in the small, often unnoticed, things in life whether that be plant life, windfall, jetsam or insect visitors.
Lorna has work in private collections in the UK, France and USA.
