Stuart Moir is a painter of landscapes and portraiture. He studied illustration and printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art. After several years as an illustrator/graphic designer manager, he returned to his roots as a painter.
“My main influences are 16th century Indian and Flemish art (in particular Pieter Bruegel the Elder) and the French Naturalists. My approach to landscape entails first and foremost to embrace and capture the ever changing elements. Numerous Plein air studies (watercolour) act as a detailed references for studio based oil paintings. The object of my portraits are to highlight individuals, who for the most part been almost forgotten, but played an integral role in their lifetime and beyond.”
Stuart exhibits in Scotland, including regular shows at the Paisley Art Institute.
