Jonathan Hood is an established Dundee artist. His paintings contain a hidden narrative to be interpreted by the viewers, always involving figures, often in cars or playing instruments. His distinctive style and palette is instantly recognisable. Amongst the paintings in this exhibition you will find some of his figures wearing masks reflecting the current pandemic.
Alongside Jonathan are three artists new to the gallery: John Martin Fulton is a Glasgow artist who creates bold expressionist figurative paintings. Gwen Adair is a Dumfriesshire artist known for her figurative painting but now moving more into birds and landscapes, as demonstrated here. Nicola McBride lives in Perth but is originally from Dundee, she has taken on the difficult medium of coloured biros with astonishing results.
We also welcome regular gallery artists: Douglas Roulston, Ann Ross RSW, John Paul Raine, Margaret Evans, Anne Russell, and Anne Skinner.
The gallery has introduced for the first time the free app Art Visualiser which enables you to try an artwork you like from this exhibition virtually in your own home.
