Born in 1971, Mhairi studied at Glasgow School of Art gaining a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and while there she received a number of awards. After graduating in 1993 she spent some time painting in Australia and has also painted throughout Europe, in Arizona, New Mexico and Canada as well as in the United Kingdom. For this exhibition she has included 3 landscapes from her time travelling in Italy alongside her still life compositions.
Mhairi’s emotional response to subjects comes through in her paintings. Initial sketches are developed into more abstract works using a rich, fluid, impasto paint surface.
She was elected to the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour in 1999. Her work is in collections including the Royal Scottish Academy, Fleming Holdings and Aberdeen University.
Other artists in this show include: Morag Muir, Libby Scott, Douglas Roulston, Jonathan Koetsier, John Lowrie Morrison OBE, Anne Skinner and a wide selection of ceramics, glass and jewellery. Please note that not all of these works are on the website.
